Bleach will be quickly inactivated on a dirt floor and will achieve very little unfortunately.

I disagree with that Myzomela. I put straight bleach in a hose end sprayer, and drenched everything. In fact to side track, I even did this in my kennel excersize areas, and my canine's were negative worm carriers. I also do this in all my avaries.
Actually, I never wormed a bird back then, nor heard of air sac mite till here. Why, I flipped when I learn of it from purchasing Gouldians from on of the alleged high archy's of birds.
Regardless, of what anyone says cleanliness is next to godliness, and will minimize disease in areas animals are contained.
Even when the parvo virus came about, the only thing that will kill it was bleach. Then the vets come along and push dangerous chemicals, and expensive ones, tha usually get yanked off the market!
Coccidiosis, is found in namely over crowded, damp, filthy enviroments.

It destroys organic material as its deactivated, bleach that is.

EDIT: Then again you could be correct, Myzomela, here they have the "we need to protect the people from themselves," approach, and the store brand bleaches are weak compared to Clorox, which is also used to disinfect water, and clean wells. Not sure about the white king bleach, which I find to a better bleach. Will have to compare differences.
On the farm I would dump a gallon of Clorox in the well yearly. Termed well shocking, I believe.

Coccidial oocysts need to be in contact with an ammonia-containing disinfectant (i.e. bleach) for an hour to become inactivated.
Spraying it on a dirt floor means that the bleach breaks down much more quickly particularly if it is exposed to sunlight.
That is why I would not rely on it in these circumstances.

Interesting, Myzomela. I still say when coccidia is an issue, to flush the ground with bleach, minimum 1 part to 30, twice day. Or just as routine cleaning, as preventative.

By the way: Myzomela, I think it's great that you are here to share your knowledge about coccidia, and other health issues. We all should know that coccidia is a nasty parasite, and can be fatal no matter the specie.
What I also appreciate is your willingness to ague a point, even when it turns you into one nerve and they are all over it!
