If a stray dog/cat or bird is brought into a vet clinic they are all scanned for microchips and where possible returned to the owners- usually at no charge.
However, I do not believe that cats trapped in people's backyards should be taken to the vets.
These should be taken directly to the council for their animal by-laws people to deal with- and for them to impose the fines!!
My vet loves getting the cats

I think he is making $180 per cat that I bring in
