Gee fellas,

This post to me is starting to go off track. Bush Gouldians, Bush Zebs, Bush Budgies? Give me a Break. I have seen all of those in the wild. Must admit I have never seen the so called "Bush Gouldians "for sale at many sales I have attended, but have seen "Bush Budgies". Some, and I mean some were near on the mark for small tiny green birds that honestly are better looking to me than the big fat pricks in multi colour. What I took most offence to was saw at the Cessnock sale was "Bush Budgies".... they were blue! As for "Wild Zebs" they to me are truly the best little flying things going around. Sat for two nights on Camerons Corner and the little pricks nested in the locking mechanism on the gate, When it was opened or closed they would leave and return when the gate was closed.

I must say though, in the past 2 breeding seasons I have had a few chicks that are smaller, more sprightly and carry a bit of better colour, never paid much attention really. Thought they were just the "runts" of the litter. I wonder if they are getting back to the "Bush" size?

id like to hope these exist for sale and dont turn out to be some dudes marketing for $ 100 normals.

I here the term bush zebra or bush budgie and most of the time these are normal coloured birds with not so normal shape or natural shaped birds but unnatural colour as the blue bush budgie example shows.


I had bush budgies, the real deal and they were a delight to keep. they would breed non stop and they were so small and energetic.

i imagine these bush goulds would be the same initially but would then change as all domesticated pets do.

Thanks Craig. I'm not sure how this post went from Bush Gouldians to the bad image that Blue Gouldians and Blue Gouldian breeders have but I'm sure that would be an extremely popular topic. Times have changed and the Blue Gouldian breeders who are trying their best to produce a quality product deserve recognition for what they are trying to achieve.

Here in Victoria we purchased some wild type birds,these originally came from MF ans SP breeding program,didn't notice a huge difference in their breeding except for size and agility,the price of these birds were $50.00 per pair,with my birds mostly blues i have had them sit on young up until 16 days at night,this usually coincides with temperature and size of the clutch ,ie very cold nights and only two young and this is usually at the end of the season like now,down to zero again the other night,i don't say all birds but some,would be interesting to know who is selling these wild gouldians and how they got them,garyh

Well this topic went cold quickly,not to hard to work out who is selling the bush gouldians,only question is how and where he got them ,garyh

Pete, they still won't compare to your lovely Gouldians.

I generally sell them for $50 p.p. Personally at $100 it is a bit rich as you are paying top dollar and
buying on face value.
Sadly many people in our hobby bend the truth, how many people sell unrelated birds but only
have one adult pair in their collection.

Thanks for the compliment Jayson! They are completely at the opposite end of the spectrum of what I'm trying to achieve at my place but it's still nice to see where it all began. Pete
