Ahh! But if you are lucky, occassionally the kids will help with chores to do with birds. 
When my husband re-wired the outside of my aviarys a couple of years ago the then teenage son was a great help.
And the now teenage daughter wasn't too bad at remembering to feed them when I yelled at her to do so as I headed off to work on the weekend.
Mind you that was before they escaped to the big smoke and Uni.
Now they just cost me money.
