Alvin the breast on your cock offspring looks a little too light to be purple so perhaps it is lilac, and that may explain why his back colour is closer to yellow rather than green. Either way that cock appears to be a single factor pastel cock, with red head and lilac breast, the cock parent of which was probably one of your DF green back cocks. I agree that the cock parent being a DF pastel blue doesn't make sense.
Anyway I'm the newbie here so what do the veterans think?

Can i ask what a DF green back cock is, isn't DF a yellow backed cock bird ?? and a single factor cock a yellowy/green backed bird unless it has a white breast.
The two birds pictured are Euro SFPB's cocks. Craig

I also wondered about "DF green" but I assume alvin means a normal (not split to yellow) green back, i.e., green+green, rather than green+yellow (SF pastel yellow) or yellow+yellow (DF pastel yellow). Can i ask what a DF green back cock is,
Well, one has a white breast, but anywayThe two birds pictured are Euro SFPB's cocks.

DF look in Shane's recent post of his Gouldian mutation. A DF RH cock has very obvious blue around the head.alvin wrote: 07 Dec 2017, 15:25 Hi Tiarus
These 2 birds actually come from a DF pastel blue and a yellow hen, I thought I had 2 DF cocks until they started to colour. DF don't have that light blue around the head, under the beak is a very light grey. Both parents are PB. Given the combination it doesn't make sense. There were DF green back cocks in the same aviary but they wont produce this result.
Also when you say DF pastel cock to yellow hen do you mean euro yellow or AY?

I believe it simply follows the "rules" of the white breast gene, i.e., for SF Euro yellow cocks, a lilac breast will produce a "more yellow than green" back, while a purple breast will produce a "more green than yellow" back, as seen in my two images in this thread.Does lilac-chested affect back colour at all in euro yellows?
I have a lilac-breasted SF Euro yellow cock and he looks similar to the SF Euro yellow cock in my image above (albeit with less of a green hue):

Interesting. We don't see that at all here. Perhaps a very fine hint of blue, if any?A DF RH cock has very obvious blue around the head.

Euro Yellow backs are an easy mutation to understand imo. Yes his bird has a lilac chest and yes WB is related to lilac hence the lighter back colour.
No one here has explained to me about a DF green back bird which is impossible to have, a DF yellow back carries too yellow genes so a DF cock to a green backed hen produces all SF yellow back cocks and hens and very rarely can produce an odd green back hen of which is pure normal.
A SFYB cock to a SFYB hen can produce an odd GB bird also but it can produce DF cocks, SF hens and SF cocks.
Tiaris, not necessarily. All the double factor cocks i bred had white not blue pencil line around the back of the mask.

Hanabi, imo your SFYB yellow head is not a lilac breast it is a dirty WB bird. The true meaning of lilac is both cock and hens breasts are the same colour, lilac. Alvins bird is lilac same colour as a normal coloured hen.

Gouldian genetics addles my brain, I try to understand it, but just when I think I'm getting there something comes up to make me realise that I don't get it at all..... come to think of it, genetics in general is a bit of a mystery to me.
