When one of mine lost a leg ring it had me confused for a while thinking it was a male but after checking the breeding records it could only be a hen. So she got her new leg ring.
Might have to think seriously about closed bands

Moving a few gouldians around this morning and this guy caught my eye. I did think that he was still going through his moult but when I looked closer they are white/cream feathers
He is from a YH PC GB cock x RH PC GB hen
All the other young from this pairing are normal looking.

Sorry about the pics, camera not too good on close up, but the white/cream are definitely feathers.

The last of the Gouldians i got from Chris/Finchers dad has coloured up. It is a cock, and is already blowing it's head feathers and singing. So you did a pretty good job of sexing them Chris 6 out of 7 right. This is the only one you got wrong.

My guess is it didn't moult completely and the cream coloured feathers will disappear next moult.

The end ratio was 4 hens 3 cocks, so I am happy.

Yes he was one of the last to hatch out, middle of August.
