This is the way I have always understood it to be. RH/sg Cock x SG hen = 50% SG cocks 25% RH hens 25% SG hens
RH/sg Cock x RH hen = 50% RH cocks 25% RH hens 25% SG hens This is because it is a sex linked gene. If it was a non sex linked it would be as described by Cranberry. Not to say you are not breeding half and half Matt, just that you are being lucky with your sexs. BECAUSE ALL GENETICS IS AVERAGE. (That's why it doesn't work Mick) Sounds like Slicks mate is also being lucky with his sexs.
Maybe they got their hens from the same place because one thing that is also not yet proven but believed to be so is that hens who's mother produced more daughters than sons will be more likely to produce more daughters than sons.
Anyone else out there who is also breeding them themselves and who is doing so from birds they have bred and therefore can be sure are or are not split? Who can let us know what their results have been? Also anyone else have a hen who's hen production is higher than average keep her and her daughters.

Huw.D's post showing the percentages on the first page is spot on. A pure normal cock that isn't split for sea green that is mated to a sea green hen CANNOT produce ANY sea green offspring. If the cock is split then he can produce both hens & cocks in sea green.

I stand corrected. I openly confess that sex linked is the factor I have the greatest difficulty with getting right.
I differ to those who understand it better.

Saw the RTPF back and forward to the nesting box but not going in, thought it was a bit strange as they had two littlies in there. I checked and both babies dead, crops had food in...not full but some food in there. Dont know what happened to them.
