I just had to bring in one of my two remaining quail babies inside, I could hear this constant peeeeppppp peeeeppp, and both the hen and the call making different noises to normal. When I checked one of the babies is on its side and quite cold but its calls were distressing the adults, so its now in a bowl right next to me with some heat underneath.
Can these babies as young as they are be raised inside possibly in a box or a cage, just me providing heat and seed and water?

yes, they can
But they will need some human contact. Putting your hand in their box will provide the 'mother' they need. Putting a ruffled up tea towel in with them will also help if they get a bit cold.
Here's a link to a page of someone who's done it:

Well thats good to know, it seems better now and is back out with the parents running around like there is nothing wrong, just seemed to want to get warm. If it goes weird again it will have to come in for good and be hand raised.
