The world is becoming paranoid, about what you can put on planes. Cause you may want to blow them up. As if. Oh well, I guess this is civilization. Can we just go back to believing in people. 99.9% of people are good. :D And the other sods we can feed to the crocodiles and sharks.

If it is a security problem - I wonder how they transport live fish? Still thinking that spillage is the issue

I have just been checking out the Australian Air Express webpage. Although most of the information seems to be directed to the freighting of dogs and cats in the FAQ it mentions about water, the answer states.
Should I put water in the cage?
Animals cannot travel with a full water bowl. Fill a plastic bottle with water and freeze it, and the condensation will form on the outside.

Imported fish mostly come from Asia to Australia , so would likely contain cholera pathogens etc. It doesnt make sense does it ? Ive imported fish from Thailand and I know there are strict quaranteen measures but the fact remains they come in packed in plastic bags still.

Live fish domesticly, have to be shipped in air approved styro's, twice the price of standards, internationally, anything you like. In 10 years of shipping fish, I never had any hassels, turn up at the airport, no booking, drop them off, & off I go. With birds, there is no end to the agony, have to be booked in, at the airport no earlier than 2 hours before the flight (fish no later than 1.5 hours before), need to be picked up within 1 hour of arrival, blah, blah, blah. I think next time I'll just bag up the birds, fill 'em up with a bit of oxygen, throw them in a styro, air approved of coarse, & tell them they are flying fish.
