thanks guys. no more breeding colonies for me. a couple of the adults have started bickering, and one of the youngsters was getting picked on, so might seperate out this breeding pair into my other aviary to try and relieve this... got another pair on the nest sitting fairly tight, but not holding my breath
these birds were all young when i got them so still another couple of years left til i'll replace them. hopefully a lot more young!

Congratulations Spanna
Once they have success you should see more soon so good luck.
Try to stay out of the aviary for a day or 2 and the young-uns soon learn to fly well, they crash into the wire pretty hard early on if frightened.
A little aggression happens when the fledglings venture near other nest areas but they soon learn.
Oh one more thing, be especially vigilant at this time regarding butcher birds and hawks, until thay can fly well to escape.

thanks CC. all the young are excellent pilots and hide most of the day in the dried brush. giving them as much space as possible anyway. aggression isnt near any nests but it is from a hen who is currently sitting, when she's off duty she's a bit snappy. nothing too nasty though. aviaries are well protected from hawks and butcherbirds (nearby shrubs, overhanging tree to block line of site), never had much trouble with any of my previous fledglings, which has been quite a few over my short years so far... have also got plenty of new holland honeyeaters and others around that shoot of an alarm call which my birds respond to by dashing into the covered area. and my gallant Major MitchellCOUNTRY CAPITAL wrote:Congratulations Spanna![]()

Well done Spanna. 4 fledged is a great effort
. Mine took 18 months (and four nests) to raise 2 young.I added a extra male after 6 months and that seemed to get them going.
Great bird to have in a aviary.
Congratulations.
