I was thinking that Greg would be able to contact Wires in Sydney and hopefully get some advice and maybe some products that would help him with the bird when he got back to the Philippines that would make the hand feeding a little easier.

Didnt read between the lines DI ....of course he isnt bringing the bird here , stoopid me .... Yes wires would be a wealth of info or the vets at Taronga here in Dubbo or Featherdale in Blacktown .

Well it's a muggy Sunday afternoon in Los Banos and so I've got ime to load another photo of the bulbul chick. It's been with me now for 6 days and seems fine. I atually think that it's easier to manage than hand-rearing a finch. I came close to that yesterday when I renewed the brush in my aviaries. I removed a most of the brush from my main aviary then thought too late to check the nests and alas found 4 newly hatched stars. I shoved them in a Hecks nest that hatched two days ago with two babies and I can only hope for the best while I'm away. They are still brooding the nest today and no chicks have been thrown so I might have won but I daren't look after such an intrusion. The re-brushing seems to have made the diamond sparrows frisky again so I hope that things work out for them while I'm away too.

Also there not native to australia so wires probably would put it to sleep.

Wires here have a reputation that unless it is cute like a joey young Wombat,Possum,Koala etc it is disposed of.
As for birds we know first hand what happens to native birds when taken to be cared for.
Few have any real knowledge of avian beings.
Sorry not a fan when it comes to their ability with the care of avian beings

Found the same attitude at Dubbo Zoo. I take any injured birds that are beyond my help out to the Vets there , if its a Lorri or Rosella its all hands on deck but the poor old Galahs I take out get a much cooler reception.
With wires I think you get the genuine ones that truly care about all critters and then you get the ones that favour a few species and bugger the rest.
Thats human nature I guess.
