Interesting bit of info Fincho162.Never thought of the pores in a eggshell.Any way I also bake mine in the oven,and finely crush it up,I like how brittle it gets.

Going on Finchos very informative reply , I am happy to continue baking and crushing my eggshells for my birds , obviously keeping the crushed egg shells off the ground and in bowls eliminates some of the risks of bacteria getting into the pores and keeps the shells dry .
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.
