Image cant believe I didnt think of that, mind you when Ive had the young to feed its been the last thing on my mind.
I might see if they would do something like that, because the thought of crop feeding makes me feel sick, worried to death in case I put the needle in to far, not in the right place etc etc, which is why Ive only ever tried "open your mouth and let me feed you (through gritted teeth) " method :D

You will learn which side of the throat to put the needle and how to feel the needle through the crop before loading up the bird . It made me sick at first too plus the word: "needle" is a turn off .

With the parrots its easier for me to hole the bird while other half feeds , Im sure there will be a technique for holding a finch while feeding.
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

Left them all out in the aviary last night so they could interact with the other gouldians (I was wrong - we have TWO left!). Yep, dad managed to re-catch one he found after the incident. Neither are the parents though :(

They made it through the night in the cold, but they didn't look very happy, so back to the laundry it is tonight. The littlest one isn't looking so crash hot, hopefully it pulls through.

I think angel means they have 2 adults left as they managed to re-capture one... If i'm reading that right.
Which means all the bubs are still ok, at least at the time of posting.
Perhaps it's best to let 'em grow up a little more before leaving them out in the cold again overnight... :wtf:

Yeah, we still have all 7 babies, and two adults, which is an improvement on the one I thought we had!

It wasn't my decision to leave them out in the cold!! My parents are going to Europe on Friday and dad's been the one feeding them during the day cos he's been 'working' from home and figured they needed to grow up fast so he put them outside. I'm just very glad they're all still with us and are back in the laundry tonight! At least I can look after them until Sunday cos I have time on the weekends to keep up feedings. I have no idea what I'll do next week...

I just thought that when you said there was two left you were talking about the babies.

could you possibly take them to work with you? I know its not exactly ideal but when I was helping to hand rear a baby bird while spanna went to the finch convention, I sheepishly asked my boss(was convinced he would say no) as it was the only thing i could do.. he agreed and i put it in a quiet room with pre-made feeds done up so i could quickly heat them up when I needed to... i know 7 is a bit different to one though. Good luck :)

I work in a corporate office in the city, it takes me 2 hours each way on public transport, I work in finance and it's month end, and to top it all off I just quit my job and I'm training my replacement. There is zero chance they could come with me to work... :p

ah...well thats that idea out the window. I dont know then, spanna taught me how to hand rear so I could look after the little gouldian while he went to uni, work etc.. but i dont know if you would be willing to ask someone to help you out i know its a full on thing, espicially if its more than one...really hope you find a solution :)
