Hen is a pied and rooster is seemingly normal

At the moment there is 6 from this one nest for sure. I will check it out better over the next few days. As a bonus for a job well done I drove out and got them some termites which were eagerly accepted.
Looking after this bunch was a well deserved treat. Strange thing about it there was no sign that they were nesting.
On another note a pair of split blue gouldians single factor normal cock and yellow back split blue hen . !st nest tossed the 4 young. 2nd nest had 1 young in the nest till about the 14 day mark.. A pastel blue and they couldn't be bothered feeding it.
I was planing to re-locate the 3 adult pairs and found another pair of split blues on 8 fertile eggs so I now have to wait it out.!

final count - 6 young. some are very nicely colored pied birds ....these most likely will be hens. i thought the adults birds look nice but percentage wise these young out do them. nothing special in the feeding.....not even termites as yesterday these were only added as a treat.
the fires had not bred for several months and it was only after i caught the small flock of cordons that they decided to breed again.
so in theory the cordons must have upset them a great deal.........or enough to stop them from breeding

Not necessarily a hen just because "she" has plenty of white at this early stage. Its just that hens retain more of their white as they mature to adult plumage compared to pied cocks due to the masking effect of cock's red plumage over the white areas on the upper body as they attain adult colouration.
