saw that show too . they have snake wranglers working full time catching released pets some of which were huge .

they also showed large breeding sheds which were damaged in one if their big storms , they believe the snakes escaped the sheds and bred up to be in feral numbers .

Have seen Olive Pythons around Darwin nearlt the size of the one with the wallaby, there is a bigger snake in the Territory (longer that is) , the Oenpelli Python . Very rare and i believe there maybe only one in captivity. Reported to grow up to 28 feet long . Not sure if thats a fact or bit of Outback BS.

Saw a show about the snakes in the swamps in Florida. The snakes there are escaped/released Burmese pythons. They are big enough to predate 7 and 8 foot alligators, they catch them and eat them but they some times have problems with the claws and also with the decomposing process which causes them to explode, for want of another word. They are well and truly on par with the anaconda but this is a feral thing we dont want in good old Oz. Our snakes are big enough and deadly enough as it is.
