If they bred for you straight away, and not for the previous owner. You obviously do everything right by them.

I hope so, maybe it was all the moths and small grasshoppers that did it.

It's amazing how lucky you get when you do the hard work.
The good bird breeders do those extra 1% things that are needed.

Round 1- two chicks
Round 2- two chicks
Round 3- two chicks hatched but dead and removed by parents the next day
Round 4- three chicks hatched but dead and removed by parents the next day
The last two nests were in bad rainy weather and getting cold, so there were not as many insects/moths being attracted to the night light as there were in the warmer months. One of the fledged chicks disappeared, so the headcount at the moment is the parents and three independent young. Steady progress is always good to see. Pity about the losses, but that is life.

Update, While I was away my house sitter did such a good job that when I returned home two more young were in the nest and have now fledged. The older three young are all males. Anyone got a spare hen?
