Daily Telegraph Saturday 10 August 2013.
"RARE BIRD BREAKTHROUGH"
"DNA analysis has proved the Holy Grail of ornithology, the night parrot, is not as rare as previously thought.
Bird enthusiast, John Young, who has been searching for the night parrot for nearly 15 years, sent 5 feathers from a roost site he found in the Lake Eyre Basin to the Western Australian Museum's molecular systematics unit for testing, convinced the birds he had been watching were the elusive parrot.
The feathers were found to be identical to the night parrot, which is listed extinct in NSW".
Info for anyone interested.

Looks like the Murdoch press likes the Night Parrot more than they like Kevin Rudd. Here is a link to an article in the
Australian (Aug 10) reporting DNA confirmation of John Young's Night Parrots.

The debate around the night parrot might have gone quiet on this forum but is still very much alive and kicking.
Some suggestion that Mr John Young has been "photoshopping" a little too much.

The pics may be photoshopped, but how do you photoshop the genetics of feathers?
