From your photos it doesn't look like you keep your birds outside; but I'm sure with your weather , you could. I live in Houston & am seriously considering building an outdoor aviary for my birds- just concerned about potentially having to bring them in in the winter though.

My birds are in an outdoors aviary but the aviary is almost like a small house completely closed with windows, air, & heat during the winter.USAFinch wrote:From your photos it doesn't look like you keep your birds outside; but I'm sure with your weather , you could. I've built another smaller aviary 10x6x6, but this one is completely opened all the way around to get full sun light. Im a bit concerned with the colder months! Here it usually doesnt get to cold but some of these species are very delicate so lets see how it goes.

Mine are in a Tuff Shed that has insulation and its own AC unit. ( 8x 10 feet) I am seriously considering building a caged-in aviary next to it , so I can open up the small window and let them fly outside. I can just put them back inside if it gets too cold in the winter. But we have 8-9 months here that they really could be outside w/o any harm.

Thank you, glad you liked it. Im still waiting to get my Journal and see it. Wore they able to add the pictures ? I know they told me this edition was in black and white so they wanted to leave the article for next edition, but they needed it so it was published for this one.USAFinch wrote:Hey, Rancel- just read your article on Fire Finches- nice work!
