last year I had mouse trouble but this year so far not one. expected a couple in/around the old aviary so put baits around the outside of it.
to get into the new aviary they will have some serious digging to do, first to get below & past the concrete foundation( 2foot deep and a foot wide) then there is the 6mm wire that was buried deeper again.

Those dam mice are nowhere near as bad this year as in previous years. But then we are having a real winter here like the ones we used to have before (you know, back in the 60's and 70's) when we were all too busy being young to really concentrate on the birds.
I like dirt floors, apart from that. My best mouse deterant keeps what mice do get into the yard confined to the proximity of the aviarys because she has free run of the rest of the yard.
But she can't be trusted near the birds. (Yes she is a Jack Russell)

My Jack Russel is a youthfull 9 yr old. Who behaves like a 9 month old pup half the time. But no cat we ever had in the past was half the rodent catcher that she is. No cats anymore she won't tolerate them.

My Dad has two mini foxys.one is great on mice, and a ugly disobediant thing.the other is very loyal, no good on mice and is only interested in catching the birds in the aviary.

My Foxy Mozzie is great at catching mice if I catch them first and put them right in front of him :D :D and like Gomers Dads dog I wouldn't trust him with the birds. The best mouser I ever had was a Mareema x German Shepard but her sheer size was against her fitting into tight places sometimes :) .
