Sorry for not replying so quikly. I attached some pictures of my white cage. its measurements are 75cm wide x 40cm high x 40 cm deep. My aviary has a hexagon floor with a total area 18900cm squared and is 170cm high.

Im also facing another problem or two as always. First one - my finches in the aviary have eggs, but they havent hatched and im pretty sure they are not going to. do i just take them out. What do i do with them?? Second one - Im going on holidays, could i put my three finches in with the other two finches, but the problem will be is that the son is in one cage with two females and the parents are in the aviaryon their own(for now).

Does anyone ever get these problems as often as i do?? BTW the cat is no longer a problem.

BTW those eggs would have all been layed around June 12. and for any of those that dont have a calender it is July 4.

If they all were laid on or before 12 June they are no good, usually the hen will chuck them out.

If the eggs are no good take them out and throw them away.
You can combine any cages you want as long as you and the birds are happy with the result and there is no way for the birds to escape.
No you are not annoying, everyone has to start somewhere and asking questions is far better then just doing what you think at the time and then regretting it.

If they were laid June 12 and were fertilized the hen wouldnt have started to incubate them until the last egg was laid, so say about the 16th June, which would mean they have been sat on for about 19 days up to today, if they havnt hatched by now I would think they arent going to. Zebra finches eggs usually hatch after about 2 weeks.

You could candle the eggs as you are removing them, i.e hold a torch under the egg and see what is inside the egg. If it looks clear with a bit of yellow then its not fertile. If it looks dark and you can maybe see something that looks like a chick put it back in the nest and leave it for another couple of days.
Bear in mind all this disturbance of the nest may cause the birds to desert the nest anyway.

Okay cool.
next question.
I seperated the only child of those parents not long ago. So the child(male) is with two females in a cage(there WAS another male). Can i put the child and the two females back with the parents. Im going to the city for a few days and thought it would be easier to feed them if they are together. I just thought the fact they are uneven is a problem.

I might be able to take the three finches with me, so i can buy the fourth and put it in the cage straight away. Otherwise ill just have to bring it home in a box.
