Most of the birds I like in a collection is a mixture. I like planted outdoor cages, that have a good go at mimicing the natural habitat pretty exactly of the key species in the aviary. In my aviary I'm going to have a pair of Scarlet-chested Parrots, These are going to be my only parrots.

I do love all bird, like, alot, like really alot! I am an avid birdwatcher (Life list of 456 species, including such rarities as Spoon-billed Sandpiper, Nordaman's Greenshank, Regent Honeyeater, Eastern Bristlebird, and going out tomorrow foe Masked Owl and Green Catbird... but that's another topic, woop woop) and, I don't think there's a bird in Australia (if not the world) that I would object to keeping, if I had the facilities!

99% of all australian birds are softbills!

I know Australia has soft bills but it would be less than 99% but in Australia when breeders say soft bills they mean things like cordon blues, st halinas, oringe breasteds, riddles , violet ears and things like that.

I know no one who says foreign finches are softbills. They are just foreign finches.
softbills are... well softbills :P :lol:

You were not that far off,if you class anything that doesn't eat seed as its main form of food as a Softbill.
It includes all Seabirds,Honeyeaters,Raptors as well as all the normal run of Softbills were are normally talking about.
A piece of useless data,apparently the most common bird in Australia is the common Silver Gull(softbill)

They are all known as grassfinches, the only African softbills we have in Australia are the weavers. Most of our overseas softbills are South-east Asian.

There are 60 something birds that aren't softbills in Australia, that that works out to 92% of Aussie birds being softbills
