Ok.........news to date...........as of Monday.............heard no peeping from either the zeb nest or the gould nest................left it as long as I could without looking..........but again to my dismay.............the little zeb finch was dead and didn't look like it had been fed for days............the little gould was the same.............but being a lot older was still hanging in there.........it's crop was completely empty.................so as much as I said I wouldnt interfere..........I am now hand feeding it.............It is almost fully covered in feathers.............it is doing ok............it only takes a couple of mouth fulls......on the end of a tooth pick.............is this normal????..........
It has a black beak so I'm assuming it is a female..........now my hubby is getting up early in the morning to feed it as well..........so cute.........
The little gould seems to be going ok...........well at least I'm hoping anyway............so we are coming to the third day......but just can't seem to feed it any substantial amount.......but I am feeding it about every 1 to 2 hours............I won't give it a name yet as I'm trying not to get attached...........oopsss............too late.........so thats it for now...........will let you know what happens...............Cheers for now Deb

sorry about the zeb, good luck with the gouldian, unusual for parents to not feed so close to fledging,
and all young normal gouldians have black beaks when first hatched, so could still be a male.
good luck with it all
