gouldians going to school.Notice the difference in the hens from our aviary breed ones. There is also a wide variance in the coloration of the hens in particular.

A very poor photo but look at the background the grass was moving. There was around 200 goulds in this group. This was the most prolific gouldian spot during the count.with 150 to 200 goulds each day.I spent an hour here one morning after the count had finished. These birds are amazing with 95 % of goulds drinking once at a waterhole for the day.And they all come in generally late as a group and are gone as quick as they came in.Totally different to other finches where they come in more spread out and back during the day.

Same morning different location, photo taken at freakys. We were lucky to see them still on the same morning at two locations.By the time the count had started we had already photographed about 8 different specie of finch so goulds in this area were the prize to see for sure.It was made sure everyone on the count got the best opportunity to see a wild gouldian finch. With some people not seeing one untill the last day.

And I spy a double bar in that last pic. Di perhaps you could get a selection of "on location" native finch pics from various members into an article? That way 6 - 10 shots from those who have been travelling with locations, add together, = bird travellouge.
