Huntsman spider in the aviary

Just catch up all of your daddy long legs and put them in the aviary if the soft bills or some of the more insectivore fniches don't get them they will get the red backs(and huntsmans). They prey on them, BUT coopex, coopex, coopex !!

Wow - thanks for everyones reply. A very diverse number of opinions.

I decided that I should remove the Huntsman (not kill it, as overall Huntsman a good spiders). But when I went back to look for it, it had disappeared. Search everywhere but could not find it.

Oh well - will keep an eye out for it.

Most of the holding aviaries at the park contain Golden Orbs and they cause people more stress than the birds, same goes for Huntsmans. If we are genuinely worried about them, then best we rush out and turn off all night lights ect. No doubt they could clean up a sick ,weak or injured bird. Id be ok with a huntsman , it might suggest theres nothing in there that could clean one up and cause serious damage. Could almost be seen as a healthy sign.

Found this little darling in the shed which has an entry to the aviary. It was relocated to the garden on the other side of the yard. I was feeling benevolent and after all it was a Sunday. I am damn sure a day old chick in a nest box would make a healthy meal. Please bear in mind that the plastic tub it is in is 13 cms deep. One leg is on the top lip and one leg is touching the base. Shiver material.
