Too late , the window for handrearing has well and truly passed .
Please listen to D/birds he is right ...I know its all new and exciting but just watch from a distance and learn by watching the parents , take notes and most of all enjoy them .

What type of floor does the aviary have ? From memory it was cement or similar ... maybe the floor is slippery , throw some sand or gravel or something in there if its going to be an ongoing problem.

yestaday i felt the bite of a 7 week old red rump grass parrot they where on
the floor and are still having trouble flying i picked them up and put them back in the nest
box the first one that i grabbed didn't bite me he just sat there and then the other one
the little bugger was a pain to get when i wanted to grap him boom he would dash out of my way and
i found it cool and when i got him he bit me on the left pointy/index finger it was like a pinch but it didn't
hurt as much then when i opened the nest box and put him in and i realised him from my grip he was still hanging on
and then he let go. ( and now you guys will think i'm weird) it was kinda cool having him bite me i could barely feel any pain.
Thanks
Shannon

Did you get a chance to measure how deep the nest box is ? A deeper one will keep the buggers in place longer .

no offense to all and i don't mean to disrespect others in any way but i may have proved everyone or
some people wrong and specialy the world of the internet and its amazing how 2 days with a bird can build a bond
that could get stronger ok when i saw the baby grass parrot a couple of days ago i brought it in and left it for the night
then the next mourning i thought of giving it some neo care hand rearing food for baby birds and he didn't eat as much then
later in the day i gave it some more and it ate more then earlier then the next day i gave it some more then layed with it for a while
then i put it back with the parrents back in the nesting box the parrents didn't mind then i left them for a day or 2 and then last night
when i put them back in the nest as it was getting dark then i wondered why one bit me and the other didn't and today it came onto my hand
and i had seed but the baby didn't eat it so i put him on the rope that is like a swing for the RR grass parrots and i went to get fresh seed and water
and i put my finger up and said step up and it hoped onto my hand then i walked inside from the outside which is a pargoula and is coved so it wouldn't
fly away and it didn't fly away and i walked into my mums room to show her and then dad and he owning flew off onto the bed when dad came near him
all i have to say is how amazing it is for a bird that was with me for 2 days build a bond with me so quickly.

Thats great shanny. Not to take anything away from you, but look at what happened with Deb and her Corella and the red brow found in spider web and they had wild parents. No one said it wouldn't work we just wanted you to research before you attempted it. I'm glad it worked out for you!!!!!!!
