:x This makes no sense whatsoever !
Is she going to petition the millions of cats, dogs, fish in aquarium stores ???
IT'S NO DIFFERENT !!!
You can't just discriminate against one !
Any half competent solicitor would laugh at such claims...

All states and teritories you are now in Paris Yves cross hairs.More updates as they come in.

The links metioned before of Paris Yves are very misleading. She is using photos out of context to show the general public. She is also deleting comments that point this out.I would now suggest now knowing this that if you agree with this she is reported on facebook as using incorrect
information.

Hi All,

When I signed the change.org petition a couple of days ago I noticed that less than 200 bird people had signed this petition.

As this lady is now taking on all sales throughout Australia I feel that all concerned breeders from all states should take the 5 minutes to voice their concern.....time to stand up or accept that this clown and her small support crew will destroy our hobby.

Cheers
Paul

Even if she does succeed in shutting down all bird sales, the decision would not apply to pet stores or dealers. It would just be necessary to register a business entity that periodically sells birds (and complies with the filing requirements of each state's Corporations Act) and the exclusions in the legislation for pet stores would then apply to bird sales. GST would obviously be a pain, but c'est la vie.

Sadly if that was practicable it would solve some of the problem but what happens to those living in smaller towns.
I live in such a place and my bird sales here would not be 1%. Rural people rely on sales to sell and buy
Also to set up a dealership or any company is expensive these days.
No the only way is to keep educated pressure on the Minister, who I would think must be considering her decision.
I guess if she realises that she has acted too hastily then she now has to work out how to remedy the problem and still save face.
Just keep sending emails even if all it says is please repeal your decision, weight of numbers from the silent majority must eventually work.
Please don't just rely on others to do your duty.

Maybe the Victorian Minister for Agriculture, Jaala Pulford, needs to think about the impact on Agricultural Shows that her sudden discovery and enforcement of conflicting and illogical legislation may have. I've seen many domestic animals, including "cage birds", for sale at Shows.

Surely, with right on our side, commonsense on our side, and the numbers . . bird breeders Australia wide can prevail over this 'kook' (an American word, loosely translated as 'ratbag')

Sadly, we birdos are normally like that proverbial frog in the container of water which is heated ever so slowly, and who just cops it . . until it is too late

Maybe this lady has turned up the heat just a little too quickly, and may well rouse a bit of passion in bird keepers throughout the 'wide brown land' no matter what type of birds they hold

A strange thing to say . . but this may just turn out to be the BEST thing that has happened to our hobby for some time

What we do here may well be pivotal to our very futures . .

Are we up to it?? . . Time will tell

No matter how flawed her arguments, how full of inconsistencies, how kooky she seems, we are not going to change Paris Yves. It is the law as it stands now that is our problem, and correcting that is what needs to be the focus of our attention. It is the law makers that need to be convinced that the bird sales we are accustomed to are something to be preserved and therefore urge them to take action to remedy the situation. We must show the politicians that our treatment of birds is not what Paris portrays. Attacking the person, although an understandable gut reaction, doesn't help our cause - it actually drags us closer to her level. Instead, we must demonstrate that the outcome she desires, initially banning bird sales, but ultimately banning the breeding and selling of all birds in Australia (one arm of her conflicting logic), is not in the best interest of birds, nor the majority of people in Australia.

Yes, Arthur, we are up to it.
