the other two are doing really well still. starting to fly to get their feeds well.... when i say fly i mean they become semi-guided ballistic objects.... but they're trying their lack of aviation skills have helped me decide on names though: Maverick and Goose

Heheheh another top gun fan ....just watch those crazy landings , thats what had my quarrion at the vets ..ruptured air sac from trying to fly through walls

clever bird! mine seem pretty good. only encourage them to make small flights at the moment, but its in a huge room anyway so lots of floor and soft couches!! they do love snuggles though, and will try and fly to my warm hands very very cute

Have only just had a chance to read this post as our computer has been tied up for the last few weeks with son doing assignments. You've done a brilliant job Spanna and made my day seeing the pictures and reading your Painted's story. They would have to be my favourite birds.

put double leg bands on so when they're in the aviary i can tell them apart but tell who they are easily enough. i ring young with the same colour as the father (this white boy right here, so white rings ) and if i keep hold of young i place any other colour on the right leg. all my young (that i can catch) have rings on their left leg to identify parents/siblings, and all my breeding stock (all but one anyway) have rings in their right legs. hence white left leg/orange right leg for Goose, and white left leg/red left leg for Maverick

i put the little guys out in the aviaries today for a big fly around while i fed everyone. they loved it so much i left them out there!! getting a bit warm here, not sure how hot at the moment but getting up there. so checking them every hour and still feeding obviously. they'd found a nice cool spot on the floor last i checked so, still flew up to see me when i went in
