moxidoctin is better after the breeding is over.

My hatching season has just started, have 3 adorable "aliens" and 4 eggs in one nest, 4 aliens and 2 eggs in another and a pair sitting on 2nd clutch of unknown number eggs (1st clutch of 5 eggs did not hatch - this was the hens first season).

My nesting goulds are pairs of RH, BH and a odd pair of orange headed yellow split male and a BH female that literally paired up from adjoining cages (he would sing his little heart out to her and she would stay on the perch opposite him and ignore all others in her own aviary. Put him into her her aviary and they have been inseperable!!

Thanks Flavio,

I will continue using Ivermectim as a follow-up after initial treatment to ensure I attack the full cycle of the ASM...instead of Moxidoctin during the breeding season I will use S76....from what I have read it is safer for birds with young chicks...cheers, Paul

PS: See you on Sunday @ Geelong

Hi all we have a pair of BHPB normals who are fantastic parents. Depending on what you call a season we have had tremendous success this season. Our season started last spring after we returned from holdiays and set them up for breeding. They had a break during the summer in the heat of things etc but recommenced when things improved. To date they have produced 35 young on the perch. Unfortunately we missed separating them and it looks like they have gone down again, thankfully the weather is not too cold yet so can only hope and pray for the last batch. They will be separated after that. Photo of them in the live food tray getting maggots for the last lot of young.

Hi Trilobite,

What a great result...35+ young from one pair over several seasons would be good...but in 1 season is magnificant...make sure you keep several of the young

I thought 60 (with more in the nest) from my 8 pairs was good (and I have another 5 pairs that have done nothing)...but I take my hat off to you...keep us posted on how many you end up with.

Well done !!!

Cheers
Paul
