How much are people paying for live food?

It is nuts sometimes the variation in price here in Bathurst.
I try to shop around but it is a very limited choice.
100g mealworms usually ranges around $8, but my elderly Mum who occasionally feeds the wild wrens paid $30 for 200g today. Not very healthy looking ones either.
Crickets cost $8.95 for a box of about 30, sometimes more - sometimes less.
Is it the retailers changing the price or do the producers change their prices regularly??.
Are there cheaper sources available?
The woodswallows I'm rearing eat a box of crickets a day.

If any west aussies are interested, I use bugs n things for work

They're down Kwinana way, I dunno if they let people off the street buy though??
I only order crickets and woodroaches (for reptiles), and I get them couriered to work.

I get mine from the amphibian research centre in Vic.( frogs.org) They have mini-medium and normal mealworms all a competative prices. I also buy gentles from them. It took me a while and some mistakes to learn how to keep them but I keep a kg of 3/4 mealworms in teh fridge in a kitty litte tray in wheatgerm bran and 30,000 maggots in a smaller container in grain. The both last me a very long time.
