Well done nirep, I'm also doing well with the Goldfinches, 7 fledged so far all were sold while still in nest, and the hen is on eggs again!nirep wrote:more

Excellent Netsurfer and love the photos as well. It's a bonus if you are able to sell off some at will.I haven't really tried selling yet but I am going to have to pass on a couple of birds.I am limited with space as I haven't got an aviary two cages that's it.I am just happy to finally have my own cage bred birds as the couple I have now were wild caught at a pet shop.Good luck with it all and well done you are obviously a handy breeder.

Good stuff.
I remember goldfinches on my uncles farm in Spain and I have been a massive fan ever since.
How did you breed them? I see your cage is bigger than the standard canary breeder.
Did you have to give them plenty of privacy?
Were they wild caught birds?
I am hoping to breed some this year.

Welcome to the forum mate .My birds were wild caught and not ideal to breed with but I was lucky. To make it short lots of yummy food and green food very important.Other is the hen has to feel secure and established.Get yourself a healthy hen and the bigger the cage the better.Next breeding season starts in October but more likely December as they tend to be late breeders.elferoz777 wrote:Good stuff.

My question to you is do you have some goldies already? If you haven't got yourself the birds yet I suggest cage bred goldfinches.Netsurfer has some for sale at a good price at the moment.
