Only owl mutation I've heard of is pied, who really knows what is out there hidden away in an aviary somewhere

Is the black rumped owl classed as mutation or separate species or something else?

I've seen/heard of pied and fawn, but neither of the ones you mentioned
I think BR DBs are just a subspecies

Two subspecies BB with the white rumped being the nominate race. Split roughly by the gulf of Carpentaria and the Black Rumped is to the North west.
I believe there were fawn or cinnamon birds around but imnot sure on the status of these birds.

Fawn double bars shown in this thread http://www.aussiefinchforum.net/viewtop ... awn#p88822, also in Portugal. Never heard of them over here, though that doesn't mean they're not in Oz.
