Ian,i get the seed from Johns house at Cardiff its growing everywhere.
The birds go for the seed in pic 2 first,they love it.
I put some in the cabinets and avairy.

Great looking seedheads, Harv.
I think they're all millets; pics 1,4,5 Jap, pic 2 French white or 'Proso', and pic 3 foxtail millet.
Other people may have other names for them.
In any case, great tucker.
Your birds will love you (even more) for it.

Looks good Harv, some of those seeds would be better if you left them a bit longer. Some of them need a little more ripening.

The French White, does that seed closer to the ground? I found some seeding grass near where I hose the smaller cages out. It was more spread out than Johnston grass, paler in colour too, shorter, but seeds very much like those in pic 2

White French Millet has its seed heads up off the ground BB. Usually a few feet depending on how good the soil is and water ect.

Agree it would be much better if allowed to ripen/develop another week or thereabouts.
