Harry Carr R.I.P.

It is with a sad heart that I announce that aviculture lost one of its dedicated old timers last night, Harry Carr. He passed away at eighty three after battling with cancer for several months. For those that did not know him, Harry was probably the most active and influential person in the promotion and breeding of softbills and native pigeons and doves in Australia. I, as many others, will miss his phone calls and visits. He leaves us with a legacy that only Harry "the loveable rogue" could. Softbill keeping in Australia would not be in the advanced state it is today had he not contributed such a wealth of knowledge and time. Farewell old friend.

Harry will be missed by many, & leaves a great legacy for all Softbill & Native Pigeon keepers, his wealth of knowledge that he so willingly shares with all, will hopefully not be lost, nor will the memory of a great man. I for one will miss sitting & talking with him for hours, in his favorite position just outside the door of his suspended walkway aviary, where he kept most of his bigger Pigeons & his Pittas. Rest in Peace old mate.

To those that knew him they we lucky to those that didn't you missed a real character.
I was unable to see him in the last couple of weeks but my mate did on our behalf, even then as ill as he was he wanted to get out of bed.
To Merle you deserve a rest you couldn't do anymore than what you did.
From one of the old brigade another one of us is gone. RIP Harry

Mate and I reckon that Harry would have negotiated with St Peter . . who wouldn't have stood a chance . . and the aviaries are now under construction
