Lost my dilute hen but the cock has been given a different mate and success. But not dilutes unfortunately. Still the gene is being held on to.

The birds in the foreground are line of Self Dilutes and the others in the back are for breeding lighter and lighter birds with a long term goal to breed a recessive white Bengalese.

Well generally I would suggest that most, if not all pure white Bengalese that you might see now or have been around in the past (they are far from common at all at present) are what's called a Dark Eyed White which by definition is a clear Pied or 100% Pied bird, much like a yellow clear pied canary but of course the Bengalese is white ground. Whereas in theory a recessive white could be 100% self and no pied at all but is white because both black and ginger pigments are reduced to 0%. This would be inherited as a recessive mutation whereas pied is dominant.

Could you not supply them with a box each so both the Bengos and the Zebs are happy??

I have only 4 avairys. The Zebs and Bengos mostly live in the holding avairy and get turns in the breeding avairys, when my other finches are least active. Don't want to overcrowd.
