This is one of the colours that I am sure have been around in Australia particularly 10 years ago. The Pastel Self Bengalese is a colour I have never seen personally and would love to come across in the future. This is an Australian photograph of a lovely example taken around 2002.

Enjoy.

I can really see the attraction in these little birds, saw some at a local bird place the other day, dainty looking things. Looked a little bigger than an orange breasted waxbill.
If I didnt have Gouldians I wouldnt mind some for the variety of colour.

I have a young pair, last seasons chicks. Not this good but getting towards what I want. They laid, and hatched a chick, but unfortunately I had put them in an avairy full of moulting Gouldians and the "pretty pests" kept bothering them. Particularly as they have now finished moulting and started wanting the nest. So when the baby vanished the other day I removed the nest. The poor Bengos get to breed only when the other birds are in off season. Due to space constraints. So mostly my poor Bengos live in a nest free zone. And I don;t get as much breeding done with them as I would like.

No I haven't been to Hakendorfs since at least early last year, I think it was Hakendorf himself in the shop when I was last there .
I saw the birds at Gem birds.

Yes I believe he is "overseeing" things still.
Gem birds is another good bird dealer I remember but coming from Strathalbyn at the time it was always a bit further to go.
Thanks for the feed back on the Pastels, I will have to give them a tinkle.
Cheers

Excellent spangling on the breast Finchman. Will rest my young pair now they are bonded then put them down again and see how I go, but they are no where near as good as yours.
