Heres a fews pics of some tell tale signs these ants are around. Take note, they are a very real problem if your in the zone where they occur.
Cislin, Coopex and Ant Rid doesnt really pull these guys up. I try not to use really harsh chemicals but there seems no other option.
Thats a mandy and my Johnston grass in the pics, needless to say they are struggling. Ive also noticed the Hooded Scaly Foot lizards are gone from the front yard. Bugger !

Is that white stuff waxy scale being farmed by the ants?

I haven't seen them here in Brisbane yet (not sad about that) but I do know that they were very susceptible to Bifenthrin - the active in Mortein Ant Sand when I was I the Philippines. I never noticed them cultivating mealy bugs but I didn't uproot anything where i found them because their bite is so painful.

Thanks Greg i wil give that a go, i had no idea that was mealy bugs but they are definately cultivating whatever it is.
