We've ogt some visitors daily over the road, finally got a photo of them
They do just sit there for hours on end, having a chat or a sleep! lol
They're very cute though. I must make sure I take my camera to work to get photos of the white tails also.. They were bathing in a puddle yesterday!

2 red tail hens by the looks. They're gorgeous birds. Recently had flocks of up to 50 white tails around my place stealing my neighbours macadamias off the trees!!! All I have to do is walk around the aviaries and pick up a few macadamias every day
Have a family of resident red tails here as well, used to be 2, numbers are slowly rising, most I've seen at any one time is 12. And a pair of Splendid wrens, they keep checking out the aviaries when misters are on trying to get inside. Very cool.

Yeah, there were about 6 or 7 in the tree directly across from us. All females I am sure after thinking about it.
Pretty sure a male flew away from the other tree while I was taking the photos. Could hear another lot of them in the trees across the road, I reckon we see at least 15-20 a day here!!!
I think we had a good dozen or two out the front of work in the puddle yesterday!
They're always making so much noise in the pine trees and dropping pinecones all through the car park!! Hahaha

I prefer the reds, but the white are much quieter, they are on the wish list, but that is a long way away for now....

Pete, the whites at my work aren't that quiet!!
And guessing from the mess they make, they're the Carnaby's cockatoo lol

Nice pic of the RTB's.
Rate along my favourite birds.
The white tails in the South west of WA are mainly the Baudinii. Carnaby are getting endangered now and hang around mainly Fitzgerald National Park in WA.
Pitty I saw the white tails being shot by orchardists in WA last May.
RTB's here are $15000 ea.! Whites not available but I will see plenty of them again on my next round in April.
cheers, Case, Tauranga, New Zealand.

Yeah I knew one of the whites was more endangered, but I couldn't find out which..
As on the museum website, they were both just listed as endangered!!
I am only guessing they were carnaby's though, as the beak looks the same as the red, so figured they would've been short beaked..
Never got close enough to really see unfortunately!
Maybe next time I'll try get closer so I can be sure!

There has been a lot of fuss about the Carnaby's lately as some of their range is being logged (there is a big protest trying to stop it at present), it seems many of them have been moving into some of the close by cities....if you want more info on the Carnabies have a look here
