Them birds be a-breedin....

Hey all :)
Today I found a painted nest, and was lucky enough to see the pair display and mate...

The tri coloured nuns have been singing their hearts out, and will hopefully build a nest when I get some extra tea tree tomorrow...

The plumheads have been shopping around for nesting sites and displaying...

The Cordons have been singing, but not just the male. He does sing, but my hen also sings the same courtship song and bobs up and down flicking her head back as she does so... I smell a young male?

The gouldians are spending time at a nest box...

The longtails have their roosting nest, but do a lot of displaying...

Caught the jacarini flipping up and down today as well.

And only my little singles, my Saint Helena Hen and Little Button Quail male aren't doing anything! Looks like things are finally starting to turn around.

One question: anyone know where I can get some swamp grass? I have a bit still but the way the birds are going through it (mainly painteds and longtails I can see flying off with it) I'll run out soon.

Just wanted to know how everyone else is doing?

as Jusdeb says, "that's all" :D

Sounds good jayburd, throw some feathers in too and try some couch grass runners if you run out of swamp grass.

Or shread white tissues. That works too. But weeding the lawn edges will do well and make you popular with the folks.

Was told at a local bird meeting that swamp grass has been extremely difficult to get and the latest supply from QLD was around $30 kilo

I paid $25 for a seed bag full from a produce store in Narrabri. It was about 1.1 or 1.2 kg which is better value than $12 for 110g from the per store.
