When To Trust

I went to a dealer yesterday to buy a pair of normal split to Blues.
He had about 30 to 40 birds for sale.
When I questioned where the Blues he breed them from were?
He answered he sold them because they don't seem to last long.
I didn't feel confident that he was being honest - so I didn't buy any from him.
Did I make the right decision ???? Dizzy

If the birds looked heathy and were no more expensive than normals, worth the gamble. Otherwise. it would have been just that, a gamble.

you definately did the right thing....i would never buy a split bird from anyone other than the breeder....how can you be sure that the person who originally sold him the bird was telling the truth....then the dealer passes on the so called split bird to you....really the dealer cannot be held accountable if the bird turns out to not be a split....so good call on your behalf...cheers Paul

You did the right thing and even if they were split Blue it sounds like they were from a weak line of blues if they don't last long, so chances are any Blues you did breed would be weak.
