Whole Egg Powder...

Hello All,

Does anyone know where a can acquire some whole egg powder?

I am looking to develop a new softfood for my gouldians, and I don't want to use boiled eggs, owing to it going off rather quickly, and i'm thinking that dried egg powder may keep away ants etc, during the day.

Any leads would be helpful..

Cheers,
Ripley

Thanks Deb,

I went to Coles, Woolworth's & Aldi plus a few health food stores today......The response was never heard of it..And the funniest was at a health food store, "No, but we have egg free powder, which does contain eggs..." What the...!

I'll make a call to Pace on monday & see where it leads..

Again, thankyou...

Cheers

Hope you've got deep pockets. Can't remember how much it was last time I bought it, but it was bloody dear. Can't remember exact proportions, but I think it was about 1/20 of the mix for Egg & Biscuit.

I'm hoping that's it not too expensive!

I have started the softfood tonight...I am working on developing Dr Rob Marshall's recipe....

Passwell Bird/Finch Crumbles
Turboboost
Quikgel

Let sit overnight in closed container in fridge....

then,
tomorrow...

F-vite
E-vite
then, Rob Marshall reccommends 12 or so egges blended together with the mix...it supposed to be velvety...i saw it made today, but I have big problems with using boiled eggs, hence the dried egg; and a touch of warm water....

I am trying desperately to get my gouldians to eat soft foods, and I will try anything...I'm hoping this may be it!!

Cheers

Maybe ask the egg people for a sample to try out , always a risk with fussy birds to try new things .

I think this is where some people in the Lorikeet world add custard powder to the homemade mix ..cheaper than dried egg ( of no value though as its cornflour anyway).

What about protein powders like the body builders use ? Just a thought and Ive seen them at supermarkets , might just take some time researching ingredients .

Hmmm...vegan birds

I would not count on dry egg powder not attracting ants. I hav ebeen told some go for protein/fat and others go for sugar. Also, I would think the biscuit would attract them especially if the biscuit has sugar and oil in it. Biscuit is usually a mix of flour, sugar and oil.

To encourage Gouldians to try softfood you could start by mixing a small quantity with some sprouted seed or a greens & grains type dry grass seed. But I wouldn't stress if they don't take it any way as sprouted/green seed, cuttlebone, eggshell and the usual dry seeds are fine for Gouldians.
