sick painted ideas?

Just found a sick painted and gouldian hen. Gouldian hen will be fine fine but my painted seems to be going down Hill. Firstly its a young that left the nest only a few weeks ago so knowing this sickness will/can take hold quick. Symptoms are fluffed clean vent very thin can feel keel bone sleeping heaps and breathing with mouth open while making clicking noises. To me sounds like a bad case of ASM so I've put in hospital cage with heat gave it some electrolyte drink ( thanks BB) and two drops of ivomec to back of neck as I don't have moxi. Is there anything else this might be that I'm unaware of. there has been a bit of dampness in the front of the aviery if this might throw some other conclusions.

if you think air sac mite, cover hospital cage, spray red mortein into the cage(not on seed or in water) and leave covered for ten minutes.

Really, is that what you do? Silly question but do you spray the cage with the bird in it or give it a blast and then put the bird back in? Most of the warnings on these type of sprays are pretty specific in the removal of birds, fish etc. Which ever way sounds pretty harsh.

Sorry hit the submit button.
If you think its ASM or worms you have to do the whole flock. If one has it then there is a fair chance every one has. One day with "moxy plus" at 5mls/litre and Baycox 3mls/litre all in the same water. Remove all water sources for the day and just supply the medication. Repeat 10-14 days later. Hopefully should do the trick. Best idea is to remove their water the afternoon before so they get a"gutful' next morning. Works for me. They might seem a bit "doggy" for a day or so because of the medication effect especially on ASM. Try and replace perches as this is where the ASM is deposited due to beak wiping. If you cant then give them a spray with Coopex or maybe even the Mortein. Repeat every 3 months.

Can't use moxi due to having young in nest with mist flights, have read somewhere that not to use during times when young in nest. Don't know if ivomec would be the same, nit giving while young in nest. Baycox what's its use and where do I get it from? As for perches I di ha e coopex so I will do this tomorrow easy as pie that one. One lucky thing is the two that are sick are from one flight so hoping that it stays there and might be able to swing meds in the next day or two as that flight at them moment only has eggs.

Just something that has been said a few times in various bird type forums is " Painteds and wet floors = dead/sick birds " .

Baycox is a worming treatment, usually picked up from wet floors. I got mine from Australian Wildlife Supplies
http://www.wildlifesupplies.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. They also have moxy plus. Delivery is pretty prompt..2 to three days. I have used it with young in nest, no problems. Turn your misters off for the day. I don't think one day will hurt. Dont medicate on days with rain forecast. The birds will drink from the wire rather than the medication.
