I think Tiaris would be from tiara (Latin for 'crown'), but can't think why.
The canora means 'musical', and is not (to my knowledge) related to canaries or canines.
Canaries were named after the Canary Islands; the islands were named for the dogs belonging to the locals at the time of their encounter with the Romans.

I would welcome corrections if anyone has a better answer...
