What sort of geckoes do you mean? Leaf tailed, velvets etc etc. What problem are they causing you? I don't have geckoes in Sydney but have a sh..t load of the little fence lizards in my aviary and they cause me no harm, actually they give the little moths and ants heaps and don't worry the birds. The only way I would think to catch one is to set up some sort of trap where light attracts the insects and the gecko gets caught in some sort of area where it cant get out. Good luck with that, geckos can climb up glass.

We had a gecko in our shower the other day, apparently they can't climb wet bricks. Poor thing was scrabbling desperately at the walls.

Being on the Gold Coast, I think sean has the imported Indonesian house gecko. They are very fast and very hard to get rid of. I've heard that they will eat newly hatched finches and/or disturb birds at night with their movements and loud barking like noises.
I also get the little "fence" skinks in my aviaries. I like to feed them.................(to the kingfishers and curlews)

Most of the rumours spread about the effects of geckos on finches is absolute crap. As a breeder of over 400 geckos I can assure you that geckos eat neither eggs nor chicks. If they did my food bill would be dramatically reduced. Geckos are present in your aviary because their actual food source - live insects aka roaches - are present in your aviaries. I constantly here the 'experts' up this way claiming to have had a poor season because geckos took all the eggs or geckos chased the birds off the nest at night to steal hatchlings. Clean up your act and get the coopex out. Geckos may well enter nest boxes but only because those boxes have resident roach colonies already. Eliminate the insects, remove the food supply and the geckos will head back to the walls of the house.

Thats interesting Danny cause I blame geckos when I peek into a nestbox one day full of eggs and next day no eggs to be found, even when no sign of mice in the area, have been known to spot the odd gecko lurking around on the wire. If what your saying is true damned if I know what takes the eggs now and again, ideas?
