After seeing Madhatters exploits with the camera its hard to compete. Friday afternoon I came home to this siting on my aviary , its not the best shot but its my first wild red capped robin so I am over the moon...
I have been told its about one in 20 are red capped around my way, it just gets better everyday....will try and get a better shot as he is still hanging around...... Pete

There is nothing like seeing them in the wild....I still remember seeing my first wild rock parrots in the south west a kid. Its amamzing how the wild life can change 20 minutes out of suburbia, I see many more birds... bourkes parrots would be a good one DB, I am making it a passion to see (try ) all my aussie natives in the wild it may take me a while but thats my plan....pete

I'm still after what I would call a good shot of these guys myself. So far, they've all turned out a bit fuzzy or poorly lit. I never tire of seeing them though.

I have a few good OSS of RC robins In the hand, but none in the wild they're pretty fast!

I keep thinking I have a good shot , in the wrong amount of sunlight it distorts the red colouring, it took me ages to get on of a scarlet robin....pete

If you have a bird app on an iphone the Robins respond well , they will come in close and have a good look around if they think there is another male about. Ive noticed that with Red Capped Robins they hang around in the same area for weeks if not months. They are nomadic but they do seem to stake a claim on a patch and hang there once they turn up.

I had a recording from birds Australia of the scarlet that made mine get bit cranky....

Sounds like a lot of twitching happening of late.May join the club soon aswell
