This years wish list has been fulfilled ...thank you birdies for giving me such an awesome season .

Orange sale I picked up a pair of Stanleys and a second pair of Hoodeds ...took a chance and bought from 2 different people , it paid off they are preening and carrying on like a pair of good sorts already ( the hoodeds ).

Cant wait to see my Regent and Hoodeds boys when they colour up ...

Don't wish to throw a spanner in the works but are you sure the Hooded in the 3rd photo is not a young cock?

Looks like it could be, back is very bright for a hen.

I was mainly going by the colour in the cheeks.

Looks like a young hen to me No yellow showing on the wing, green to far forward on the head, The only thing that stops me saying 100% is the height of the blue on the chest.

Oh dear . Well Ill stick with hen for now as the fella I got her from should know his birds and they are acting like a couple bonding .

Anyhoo been too good a year to worry about one little set back if things go pear shaped .

Thanks for the input anyway , Ill watch them and see how it goes .

Deb I'm in the exact same situation here. Two siblings from last year, one colouring very well as a male and the other one lagging behind but very much more colourful than its mother. I am going with two young cocks and buying a couple of young hens to pair them up. I think your last pic is a male, as it is more colourful, even et this stage than a mature hen.

Compare this mature hen to your one.

I wish you guys would stop putting up pics of birds I want. FYI yes we can keep them over here in the backward state its just my list is long and not enough aviary space. I found out unless I was a wildlife park I am not allowed to keep silver eyes I will never understand the system, any ways well done Deb maybe I may get some in the next few years..... Pete
