My pair of zebra's have just finished building a nest high up in the aviary but the male spends more time in their during the day then the female.
is this normal?
( Both male and female sleep in their though )

There a many reasons for finch to spend time in nests not only to raise young. Zebs like many finch build roosting nests to rest/sleep in. (although being Zebs they are probably sitting on eggs)

They share incubation duties; some females sit more than males and vice versa.
I have one particular male who will not get off the nest (I've named him Horton!), even if I have a look in the nestbox. He just calmly sits there and looks back at me!
