Yesterday I had noticed my Gouldian "Gouldo" that I have had since I built my small aviary last year was a bit fluffed up and shakey. In the last week or two we have had a sudden cold snap and also a couple of very cold and very wet nights and my Gauldo was looking a bit poorly. I was going to bring him inside in the warm and start him on a course of Sulfer D but unfortunately when I got home tonight he was laid down on the floor.....Poo.

Its funny really because I have had many finches come in and out of my small aviary and I have had a couple of losses late last year, but since this guy has always been kept (partially because my Wife liked him for his lovely colours) he is as close to a Pet as any Finch I've had. I am quite familiar with the quirky dynamic in my little Aviary. Gouldo ruled the roost and was the alpha, all except (which is so funny) my almost blind Cordon Bleu (My wife named him Pepe...French you see :P ) that would always come off best between the two, somehow Gauldo was afraid of him. He was around 7 years old so he was getting on.

Feeling Suprisingly Flat....

Silly.

Sorry for your loss :(

It's always hard to lose a pet, even one as small as a bird! They all have a personality which sometimes clicks with us and makes them stand out.

Thoughts are with you x

Its not good when that happens at any time  i have had on several occasions lost almost half my birds overnight even in different aviary's and locations.

There is always one bird whose quirks stand out. Sorry to hear about Gouldo.
