More information required....are you seeking information about the egg or the cause of death. Does she have a mate...do you have other finches on eggs etc etc...

Well i was wondering how to keep the egg alive and also wondering how she died.
I had another female die a few weeks ago. They were both in the nest boxes.I think it might have happened when they weretrying to lay the eggs.
I do not have any other pairs as told you the other female died.
Cheers

The question meant does she have a male mate?

If you dont have other pairs on eggs dont think there is much you can do with it...regarding the death of the hen...was she nice and tight feathered? ie:- not fluffed up? No dirty vent? No tail pumping when perched? you will need to provide these and other answers for these guys to give you an idea on your loss...

Were they under artificial light....it is far more common for them to get egg binding if they are not outside because the sunlight helps them with calcium absorbtion which they need for good laying.

There is no artifical light and both of the females feathers were puffed up.

No, they are not first year birds.
I have been using finch mix and have been sprouting seed.
I am still pretty new to breeding birds and i thought this would be enough as i havent been hearing anything else to feed them anything else except mealworms, maggots etc.
