Hi Everyone,
I am very happy to be here and looking forward to getting to know you all better.
I am new to the world of finches but I used to keep larger birds (mainly parrots) quite a few years back. Work and family commitments took priority for a while but now I am back! I don't know much at present but really looking forward to learning as much as I can. We have just moved in to our newly built house and I have grand plans of a large aviary 2m deep and 8m long running the length of a fence. Fully planted with native bushes and grasses. I would like to fill it with as many varieties of finches as I can so I can spend many hours sitting with a cuppa and paper listening and watching them. I would also like a series of smaller breeding aviaries so I can match up some pairs with the aim to master breeding in captivity and hopefully help the species to stay strong and possibly play with colours for my own interest.
For the moment I have 2 smallish aviaries about 1x2m each which I have just started to populate thanks to a great bloke I just met yesterday. (I wont mention names in case he doesn't wish to be known) He has a lovely set up with very strong, happy, healthy looking birds. He was very informative. He put me onto this site and sent me on my way with 4 juvenile gouldian, 3 juvenile painted and a pair of young quail so I have a lot to thank him for!
Well that's about it from me, thanks very much if you read this far and I hope I don't annoy too many people asking silly questions.
Thanks, Tammy
