Jabiru - Black-necked Stork

Seen a Jabiru flying high over suburb yesterday. What a sight.

I did not realise their range extended this south. Another AFF member, Mickw, recently spoke of a single pair that he had previously seen in district before. I wonder if this could be one of them or even better a offspring from them.

I didn't realise it either so I Googled a bit and found the following distribution map for the Jabiru stork on the Planet of Birds site. It doesn't cover Port Macqurie but they range into South Australia - presumably they are migratory and don't remain there so a flyover isn't out of the question.

There are a few reports from the hunter region every year.

I have seen them in the wetland area near Newcastle whilst travelling north. Cool lookers.
